Beleza Pura® Cachaça with passion fruit, fresh lemon juice, orange blossom & sparkling wine, garnished with edible orchid.
- 2 oz Beleza Pura® Cachaça
- 1.5oz Sweet Passion Fruit Juice (gently sweet-good concentration of flavor)
- .5oz Fresh Lemon Juice
- 5-6 drops (.5 thimble) Orange Blossom Water
- 1oz Sweet, Good Sparkling Wine (St. Michele Frizzante or Moet Nectar)
- Garnish with the petal of an edible Orchid (www.sungrownorganics.com)
Add all ingredients except the sparkler into a shaker with ice, shake & strain into chilled martini glass, splash the sparkler and garnish with the petal of an orchid.
Serve in a Champagne or Martini type glass
KEY: This should be a refreshing cocktail that is lightly sweet with balanced acidity. You can adjust the sweetness between the passionfruit juice and sparkling wine, ex. Sweeter passion fruit juice will need a less sweet sparkler and vice versa.
The cocktail was created for the Princess Grace Foundation’s After Gala Party, and Princess Grace happened to love orchids… hence the garnish. ‘Passionate’ in mind, passion fruit was a natural and I wanted a bright acid, so lemon was perfect. Champagne is the national drink of Monaco, so there had to be a sparkler and Thad Vogler of Jardiniere in SF taught me a sparkling cocktail… my wife suggested Rose water, we found Orange Blossom Water, and so it was born and first served at Elaine’s in NYC on October 25th, 2007 with Prince Albert, Princess Caroline, friends and supporters.
