What’s a Batida?
(pronounced: ‘BA-CHI-DA’)
According to Armando Barros, who has been making some of Brazil’s best cocktails at his São Paulo hotspot ‘Mestre Das Batidas’ (Maestro of Batidas) for more than 40 years: “A Batida is made with cachaça, fruit, or other ingredients, but almost always includes sweetened condensed milk and sugar, I like it sweet. The key is to introduce air to the mix, either by blending or shaking, I prefer a blender, I’m getting older now” as he says with a wink.
